Cibolo Steele Defeats Liberty Hill
2012 G 5’10 Jessica Green of Liberty Hill had an outstanding game. Green is a very smooth PG with excellent range on her shot.
2012 G 5’10 Kourtney Bevers of Liberty Hill was very aggressive at attacking the basket. The junior guard has nice size with exceptional ball handling skills. She also will burn you from deep, as she knocked down several from downtown to keep her team in reach.
2014 G 5’9 Mc Kenzie Calvert of Steele High School is an exceptional player with a bright future. The true freshman showed she can run with the big dogs. Calvert is a true combo guard with excellent ball handling, passing, and shooting skills. One of the things that impress me about Calvert is her ability to attack the rim. Look for Calvert to be a major prospect in the class of 2014.
2012 G 5’4 Elena Gumbs of Steele High School had to be the most impressive player I saw today. It wasn’t her scoring, passing, or assit that got my attention. Elena consistently communicated on both ends of the floor every single possession as she helped her team to victory. She showed exceptional leadership, and I believe this made a huge difference in the game. Anyone can steer the ship, but it takes a leader to chart the course and that’s what she did. By the way she also notched 16 for the game.

Hays Upsets San Antonio Churchill
Coming into to today’s tournament Churchill is ranked # 2 in the San Antonio area. With Truesdale, Holub, and Mc Kenzie out for Churchill Hays had a chance to Steel a key victory to advance in the bracket.
2012 G 5’9 Nicole Alcantara of Hays is very athletic with a nice skill set. Nicole showed a nice perimeter game with lots of hustle.
2012 G 5’5 Shannon Peace of Hays ran the point. Shannon did a great job of taking care of the ball and got her teammates easy looks at the basket.
2012 G 5’5 Leslie Vorpahl of Churchill is a great PG with loads of next level potential. I have watched her play a few times this season and she always seem to get it done. Showed excellent handles with a dangerous pull up jumper.

San Antonio Churchill Lady Chargers
New Braunfels Topples Giddings
Emerging prospect 2012 G 5’9 Kayla Winkfeild of Giddings High School is solid player with great athleticism. Kayla has a nice rounded game with the ability to be very explosive. The junior guard showed she can shoot it from the perimeter or take it to the rack. Coaches should keep an eye on her as she will be a nice asset at the next level.
2011 G 5’8 Rebeekah Knudson of New Braunfels has to be one of the most athletic kids around. Rebeekah has a nice skill set and defends very well. She can get it done from the perimeter and showed she will attack the basket.
2011 G 5’5 Heather Hewitt of new Braunfels is a true PG. Heather has great leadership ability with a high basketball IQ. Heather will get teammates involved and also knock down shots when needed.
2011 W 5’10 Julie Dirienzo of New Braunfels showed she can handle the ball under pressure. Julie has great passing skills from the post and will burn you from the perimeter.
