D1 Nation Diamonds In The Rough @ Alief Elsik HS.

D1 Nation Contributing Editor, AW “Gym Range” Robinson has been busy polishing up another pair of Diamonds In The Rough.  Today, we feature 2011 PG 5’11” Cortlandt Mills of Alief Elsik.
Mills is a quality lead guard who has the ability to run the team and put the ball in the goal with deep 3’s, a nice mid range game & by  attacking the rim. His best game of the summer was vs. MBA Hoops from Jackson, MS where he gave their nationally ranked PG DeVille Smith (Mississippi State) fits with his pressure defense and change of speed,  controlling the game & getting the win. Attention all WAC, Missouri Valley & Mountain West teams.  This guy will impact your teams.
Mills partner in the Elsik backcourt, 2013 SG 6’3″ De’Shawn Robinson is no slouch.  Houston’s loaded with talent, and it’s not all inside Loop 610!
Stevenson is a smooth player who can do it all. He can run the point in addition to the two guard. He is very athletic on the fast break attacking the rim like a young Dwyane Wade. I first met him at the Alief 24 hr fitness two years ago where he was playing with grown men & getting it done. Expect him to climb the 2013 ranks as he’s hungry to be repected nationally as well.

P.S.  We apologize for the quality of the pics and will try to obtan better photos asap.

D1 Ambassador 2011 PG Zaveral Jackson Commits To Murray State

With several weeks still to go before the early signing day on November 11th, the 10th member of the D1 Nation has committed to play Division 1 basketball out of our talented Class of 2011.  Congratulations to Zaveral Jackson & His Family of Hammond, Louisiana’s St. Thomas Aquinas HS, shown below with the New Orleans D1 Ambassadors Elite.
Jackson, a 5’11” PG who is lightning quick, with “mad hops” has committed to play for Coach Bill Kennedy’s powerhouse Murray State team which has been the class of the Ohio Valley Conference and a threat to bounce anyone on the National scene.
2011 PG Zaveral Jackson of St. Thomas Aquinas in Hammond, LA

My friend, Dave Telep of Scout.com calls the D1 Ambassadors the best organization in the country that doesn’t rely on a shoe company sponsorship.  Who else has 10 verbal commits in the preamble to the NCAA’s November early signing period?

I enjoyed watching Zaveral play this summer.  He really wowed a gym full of coaches at the Fab 48 in Las Vegas, dunking with abandon over much larger players several times in the event.  He’s one of those kids that a couple of years from now is going to beat a power conference school and people will scratch their heads and say, “where’d he come from”?  The Answer: From the D1 Nation, and the talent rich City of New Orleans, Baby!-Coach Max Ivany
