San Antonio Games Of Note

Kerrville Tivy 63 Schertx Clemens 42 2010 P Tyler Kotson (below) had 18 for the Antlers in the win.

San Antonio Stevens 88 San Antonio Clark 80. One of the most exciting games of the evening in SA, as it went to double overtime. Jason Brickman (Long Island) had 28 in the loss while 2010 P Joe Monroe (St. Mary’s) had 24 for Stevens. The loss was Clark’s first in District 28-5A under first year Coach Steve Sylestine.

Converse Wagner 116 San Antonio Highlands 81. Wagner will steamroll into the playoffs as one of the favorites to get to the Drum as 2010 G Jordan Clarkson (Tulsa) led the T Birds with 20 in making the Scots “cry uncle”.

Converse Judson 67 Corpus Christi Carroll 51. 2011 W Tevin Russell had 26 to lead the Rockets.

San Antonio Reagan 56 San Antonio Madison 55 After all the turmoil this season, including the resignation of their long time Coach Jimmy Littleton and two post men (6’6″ & 6’9″) Reagan ran off 7 wins in a row and capped an improbable comeback to leapfrog Lee for the last playoff spot in 26-5A. Their reward? A date with Austin Westlake in the first round of the playoffs. 2011 Tre Demps, (below)Reagan’s leading scorer had 14 but it was Senior Matt Medell’s tip in at the buzzer which gave Reagan the win. 2010 G Jamaal Johnson (Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo) had 30 in the loss for the Mavs.

San Antonio Lee 74 San Antonio Churchill 72. The high school swan song for 2010 Paul Garnica (Northern Colorado) was a Grammy as he gave us another performance for the ages. His 46 points against San Antonio Churchill were just not quite enough. They were enough to win the game, but Reagan’s aforementioned shot at the buzzer kept it from being a tie for the last playoff berth. Garnica (below) finished an amazing career with 3012 points, a record that will be a long time standing. I had the privilege to coach Paul in over 100 summer games with the Texas D-1 Ambassadors and it’s something I will always cherish. Now Paul, head on to Northern Colorado and terrorize the Big Sky Conference!..Coach Max
