Austin Bowie went on the road last night and accomplished the improbable at Pflugerville by coming from 18 down to snatch one from the Panthers in overtime. Of course it’s a team game, but the guy who personified grit for Bowie was 2011 P 6’4″ Connor Robinson.
It was my first time seeing Robinson, who has been putting up some pretty good numbers. He had 20 points and 12 rebounds last night but the impressive part was that 50% of those came in the 4th quarter and OT. Robinson isn’t going to catch your eye in warm ups but I loved his tenacity on the boards and his ability to finish down low in traffic. You can’t underestimate a guy who has a feel for the game. I was impressed with the fact that at least half of his rebounds were because of his anticipation and understanding of the angle that the ball would come off the rim.
